A good relationship with your therapist is the key to success, no matter what style of therapy is practiced. I build an atmosphere of support, safety, humor, and empathy - but I don't just tell you what you want to hear. In my experience, therapy is about recognizing truths about one's life that may be difficult to accept. I help my patients find their truth, process their feelings about it, then find in their story sources of strength and even beauty.

I provide psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which focuses on profound unconscious patterns of thinking and feeling, usually established long ago in one's life, that are now outdated but still influence one's current behavior and way of being. I would call this a symptom. I focus on helping patients understand their symptoms as a way of becoming free of their influence. K(no)w Symptom.

I have broad experience working with artists, musicians and writers; people from Africa, the Middle East, South Asia; LGBT people struggling with internalized homophobia and relationship issues; people facing racism and discrimination; and people trying to improve their ability to enjoy living life authentically.

"Those who are called free are unimpeded and untramelled, generous and magnanimous, frank and open-minded."

I also treat problems of a more serious psychiatric nature, including survivors of childhood and sexual trauma, DID and borderline conditions, and severe anxiety and depression, as well as ways of being on the autistic spectrum.

In addition to doing individual therapy, I work with couples and adolescents.
